Widower of Freddie Mercury’s Alleged Secret Daughter Says Photos of Them Together Will Be Released

While many have doubted claims that Freddie Mercury had a secret daughter, the man who was married to her says he can prove it.

In a Daily Mail interview published Friday, January 16, Thomas — who announced his wife’s (identified only as Bibi) death at age 48 on Thursday — said that she hoped to release a book including photos of her and the Queen frontman, as well as Mercury’s diary excerpts, sometime in 2027.

Thomas said he plans to carry out her wishes.

“She had decided in the last few months to gather the photos and excerpts from her father’s notebooks that supported what she had confided to [author] Lesley-Ann Jones in the book [Love, Freddie],” he said, referencing the 2025 biography that claimed the British singer fathered a daughter in 1976 following an affair with the wife of a friend.

“The goal was to publish these elements in the fall of 2027,” Thomas continued. “I will respect her wishes. She said that 2026 would be nothing but a big circus in the exploitation of what would have been her father’s 80th birthday and the 35th anniversary of his death. She dedicated the last months of her life to preparing the book and to preparing what is now the legacy of her children.”

Thomas explained that it would be like a “photo album” and that his wife — who died after a long battle with a rare spinal cancer — wanted proceeds to “be for the benefit of the pediatric oncology units.”

Bibi was born in 1976 and lived her life in France. She claimed to have DNA evidence to prove the “Bohemian Rhapsody” rocker was her father, though those details have not been made public.

Thomas said his late wife was “extremely affected” by those who would cast doubt on the claims that she was his secret child.

Mercury, who died at his home in Kensington in 1991 from AIDS, was once romantically linked to Mary Austin but it was widely reported that he was part of the LGBTQ+ community and in a relationship with Jim Hutton until the end of his life.

Hutton was diagnosed HIV-positive in 1990; he died in 2010 from cancer.
