The new James Bond has yet to be named, but there’s already a fierce competition over his female costar, a source tells the Enquirer.

Florence Pugh and Emma Watson are the frontrunners right now, says the source, but “another big contender has emerged: Ariana Grande.”

The new producers of the 007 franchise, which is now owned by Amazon, “are incredibly impressed with what Ariana has done with the Wicked movies,” says the source.

The singer, 32, “is a perfect fit for the James Bond they envisage who will be shown to be in his late 20s and who will, ideally, hook a whole new generation on the spy series,” says the source.

The fact that Grande is “picky” about the roles she takes is a selling point, adds the source. Daniel Craig, 57, infamously complained about the role and “they want a cast who actually wants to be there, so they’re polling young ‘name’ actors and actresses all over the world about their interest.”

Grande will have to beat out Pugh, who not only has more action experience thanks to her role in Black Widow and Thunderbolts*, but also has “a very strong relationship with incoming 007 director Denis Villeneuve from their work together on Dune,” says the source.

Watson, meanwhile, “owes her career” to the film’s producer, David Heyman, “who helped pick her to be the female lead of his Harry Potter movies.”

And while there’s also been rumors that Sydney Sweeney is in contention, some fans were hoping her fellow Euphoria castmember Zendaya, who also stars in Dune, would take the part.

But the Challengers actress, 29, “is too big a star for that,” says the source. The one exception? If her fiancé, Tom Holland, 29, lands the highly sought-after lead role.

The Spider-Man costars are currently working on their fifth film together. “I love working with him,” Zendaya told Vanity Fair last year. “It’s like second nature.”

Still, Pugh, 29, and Watson, 35, “have an edge,” continues the source, “but if Ariana were in a Bond movie, it would make it an event. It’s a tall order, but people believe Ariana is up for the challenge!”
