Marco Rubio, who currently serves as the United States secretary of state, also moonlights as a DJ.
Over the weekend, White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino shared video footage on X of the 54-year-old politician behind a DJ booth with headphones in hand as people danced along at a party.
“MOMENTS AGO, BEHIND THE SCENES—Our Great Secretary of State @MarcoRubio DJ’s weddings too!” Scavino, 50, captioned the post.
“Here he is in action tonight at a family wedding… Let’s goooooo!!!🎶🎼🎵,” he added.
Days later on Tuesday, May 5, Rubio was taking questions during a press briefing at the White House when he said he would answer one more.
“Many people want to know what is your DJ name?” asked Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich, as seen in a clip shared by C-SPAN.
“My DJ name?” Rubio asked, appearing surprised. “You’re not ready for my DJ name!”

After the exchange began to go viral on X, many people began asking why this is a topic of conversation at a time when the world is facing so many serious issues, including the ongoing war with Iran and sky-high gas prices.
“Asking for a DJ name while gas is at an all time high,” one person wrote on X, while another added: “This is so embarrassing.”
One person commented on the C-SPAN footage, “HAHAHAHAHA our democracy is dying but good one.”
Rubio has not addressed the moment on social media. On both X and Instagram, the last post he shared was of him and wife Jeanette D. Rubio following King Charles III‘s recent state visit to the White House.
“Great state visit yesterday by His Majesty King Charles III,” he captioned two photos of him and his wife.
“Next President and First Lady,” one of his followers wrote in the comments.
