Savannah Guthrie’s 84-Year-Old Mother Is Missing, ‘Today’ Anchor Speaks Out

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, has been reported missing in Arizona, according to authorities.

The Today anchor’s mother was reportedly last seen on the night of Saturday, January 31, outside her home in Tucson. She was reported missing the following day by family members.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” Savannah, 54, said in a statement to Today. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”

“We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 351-4900,” she said.

Sheinelle Jones filled in for Guthrie on the Monday, February, 2, broadcast of Today as coanchor Craig Melvin announced the news. “We want to get right to what is a deeply personal story for us,” he said. “Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a news conference on Sunday night that the scene at Nancy’s home gave cause for “great concern,” according to Today, but noted that she has no signs of “cognitive issues at all.”

Nanos added that Nancy is “very alert” and of “very sound of mind.” However, she does deal with some physical issues, per authorities.

Multiple teams responded to the scene, including homicide detectives, according to Today, and foul play has not been ruled out.

No other details were given regarding the scene at Nancy’s home.

Nancy is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds; she has brown hair and blue eyes.
