Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is standing beside her boyfriend, Ron Duguay.
The politician, 62, appeared in an emotional Instagram video shared earlier this week by the former New York Rangers player’s daughter Shay amid his journey with cancer. The family also recently organized a GoFundMe campaign to aid in his “fight against cancer”; as of Wednesday, February 25, it has raised over $65,000.
In the Instagram video, Palin is seen feeding Duguay, 68, with a spoon as he lays in his hospital bed.
The Instagram Reel also includes a montage of other moments with the family as Duguay goes through treatment.
“Cancer is so frustrating. Honestly… nothing prepares you for what this fight really looks like until someone you love is living it every single day,” Shay wrote in the caption of her post.

“One of the hardest things we’ve learned through this journey is that cancer doesn’t fight fair,” she continued. “Just when you think you’ve found something that’s working, just when hope starts to grow again, it tries to show up somewhere else.”
Shay revealed that her father is continuing “City of Hope’s chemo protocol and undergoing major surgery on both his liver and colon,” adding: “He is all in. Every single day. And through it all, his faith has never wavered.”
The retired ice hockey player told Page Six on Tuesday, February 24, that he was diagnosed with “Stage 4 cancer, which started in the colon.”
“I am going to do all the alternatives, along with the Western medicine. What I am learning I will be able to share with others,” Duguay told the publication. “I need to get better so I can help others.”
Duguay and the former Republican vice presidential candidate have been linked since 2022. She was previously married to Todd Palin from 1988 to 2020.
