A little over a week after Nick Reiner pleaded not guilty to killing his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, a new report claims that the couple was warned about letting him live at their home.

“The medical staff warned Rob and Michele not to let Nick live at home until he got his medication straightened out,” a source told Us Weekly on Wednesday, March 4.

The warning allegedly came after the medications Nick reportedly took for schizophrenia had been switched and “weren’t working anymore.”

A second source told the outlet that medical staff had “warned Rob and Michele not to allow Nick to stay at their home due to the meds being switched, and [said] that it could make him exhibit even more erratic behavior.”

The Washington Post previously did a profile on Nick, 32, and the publication reported that “as much as he resisted his parents’ interventions,” he frequently returned to live at Rob and Michele’s house because he had “become accustomed to the trappings of his privileged upbringing.”

Rob and Michele were discovered dead at their home on December 14. Their daughter, Romy Reiner, was said to be the one who found her father’s body. (The longtime married couple also shared son Jake Reiner, and Rob was the father to Tracy, the daughter of his ex-wife, Penny Marshall, whom he later adopted.)

Nick was arrested the night his parents’ bodies were found and he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, along with special circumstance allegations involving multiple victims and the use of a knife.

He’s currently being held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in L.A. and is expected to return to court in late April.

On Wednesday, January 7, Nick’s former lawyer Alan Jackson reiterated his belief in his innocence.

“What we’ve learned and you can take this to the bank, is that pursuant to the laws of this state, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder,” Jackson said at the time. “Print that. We wish him the very very best moving forward.”
