Robert F. Kennedy Jr. came to President Donald Trump’s defense after he was called out for his mathematically impossible claim about prescription drug costs.
“President Trump and the Republicans slashed health care for millions of families. The president pitched his TrumpRx website as the answer for Americans who are worried about health care costs,” Senator Elizabeth Warren said during a Wednesday, April 22, hearing with the Health and Human Services Secretary, via a clip shared on her Instagram. “He claims that TrumpRx has reduced prices by as much as 600%. Six hundred percent, which I think means companies should be paying you to take their drugs.”
“President Trump has a different way of calculating,” he said in the clip. “There’s two ways of calculating percentage. If you have a $600 drug and you reduce it to $10, that’s a 600 percent reduction.”

Mathematically speaking, a reduction in the cost of a prescription drug from $600 to $10 is approximately 98 percent lowered. Using Trump’s math of a 600 percent decrease in cost would mean patients would have to be paid $3,000 to take the drugs off the shelf.
It’s unclear how Trump, 79, and Kennedy have come up with the 600 percent figure.
“Trump’s math doesn’t math,” Warren, 76, shared via the Instagram clip after her interaction with Kennedy.
