Republicans are requesting a hefty sum of taxpayer money that would partly go toward security for President Donald Trump’s new ballroom in the White House’s East Wing.

On Monday, May 4, the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Chuck Grassley, released a “reconciliation bill to invest in federal law enforcement and border security measures,” per his website.

“The legislation allocates funds to the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security (DHS) through Fiscal Year 2029,” which totals over $30 billion, according to the bill.

In addition, the legislation asks for $1 billion, “for the purposes of security adjustments and upgrades, including within the perimeter fence of the White House Compound to support enhancements by the United States Secret Service relating to the East Wing Modernization Project, including above-ground and below-ground security features.”

Trump’s ballroom is, of course, part of the East Wing Modernization Project.

However, the legislation does state, “None of the funds made available under this section may be used for non-security elements of the East Wing Modernization Project.”

As the National Enquirer previously reported, the commander in chief, 79, and other politicians have said that the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ dinner at the Washington Hilton hotel on Saturday, April 25, justifies the ballroom, which is apparently costing around $400 million.

“What happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and, for different reasons, every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, April 26.

“This event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House. It cannot be built fast enough!” he continued. “While beautiful, it has every highest level security feature there is plus, there are no rooms sitting on top for unsecured people to pour in, and is inside the gates of the most secure building in the World, The White House.”
