Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing a new wave of criticism after federal agents searched her home, with opponents digging up her own words about accountability.
Agents with Homeland Security Investigations searched the 44-year-old’s Washington, D.C., home early Monday, October 12, as part of a criminal investigation involving immigration paperwork completed by her late father when she was a child, Fox News Digital reported Tuesday, October 13.
The Minnesota Democrat’s past declaration on X that “No one is above the law” quickly resurfaced on social media.
The Minnesota Republican Party was among those drawing attention to Omar’s earlier comments, which she made in 2023 after President Donald Trump was indicted in a New York criminal case.
“Rather than issue our own statement, we’ll defer to Rep. Omar,” the Minnesota Republican Party posted on X.

When someone — no matter how powerful they are — is suspected of a criminal act, our justice system investigates, charges, and convicts them in accordance with due process.”
The Minnesota Republican Party’s X post continued, “We couldn’t agree more, Congresswoman. We’re sure you still feel the same way now that it’s your front door. Minnesotans will be watching closely, and so will we.”
One person responded, “Yep – she said it. She just didn’t mean it.”
Others joined in, including Townhall columnist Dustin Grage, who wrote on X, “Ilhan Omar was right. Nobody is above the law.”
Omar, meanwhile, accused the Trump administration of targeting her for political reasons.
“I’m ok,” she wrote on X. “Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.”
She continued, “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.”
Omar has publicly clashed with Trump, 80, before. She heckled the president during his State of the Union address in February, shouting at him over his immigration policies.
The Justice Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that federal agents executed a search warrant authorized by a judge as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. However, the search does not establish that Omar committed a crime.
The latest investigation comes after Omar faced scrutiny over a separate issue involving her finances.
As the National Enquirer previously reported, Omar was cleared of wrongdoing in September following an investigation into inaccurate financial disclosures.

A 2025 filing had listed assets belonging to Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett, between $6 million and $30 million. The figures were later corrected to between $18,000 and $95,000, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Omar’s representatives explained that an accountant had submitted figures without subtracting liabilities. A nonpartisan congressional ethics office voted 5-1 to recommend dismissing the allegations.
“From day one, we have been clear: the Congresswoman is not a millionaire,” her communications director, Jacklyn Rogers, said at the time, per Kare11.
