During the actress and filmmaker’s appearance on the Monday, July 20, episode of The Louis Theroux Podcast, Wilde discussed her 2022 film Don’t Worry Darling and how conservative commentator Jordan Peterson was an inspiration for Chris Pine‘s character.
Talking about how the film’s misogynistic themes relate to today and the “entitlement of power,” Wilde, 42, referenced the SpaceX CEO, 55, and how he believes “the world is underpopulated” and “we could handle another billion people.”
When host Louis Theroux asked Wilde if she ever met Musk, she replied, “I have. I met him before he turned into this creature. I really resent him now.”

“I really, deeply resent him,” she said, adding that he is “not” a friend. “I met him many, many years ago. I think SpaceX had just built their headquarters in L.A., and I got to go on a tour because I wanted to see the rocket ships.”
“He was interested in donating money to an organization that I was a part of in Haiti that was building hospitals and schools…. I believe he did donate a little bit of money,” she continued. “That’s appreciated.”
Still, Wilde said, “I was confused by him. I never would have predicted that he would go the path that he’s gone now because he did seem really smart.”
