Ohio Mom Accused of Keeping 16 Kids in ‘House of Horrors’ Also Gave Birth to Conjoined Twins

New details have emerged about a case that has been described as a “house of horrors” in Ohio — in which authorities allege that 16 children were kept in appalling conditions — and they reveal an even more devastating picture of the family at its center.

State vital statistics records obtained by WOWK 13 reveal that Elizabeth Siders, 33, one of four adults arrested in connection with the case, gave birth to conjoined twin daughters in November 2022.

The girls, Bailey Lee and Faith Lee Siders, were born at just 24 weeks’ gestation on November 20, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus with thoracopagus, a condition in which the faces and chests are fused, as per the Cleveland Clinic. Both died later that same day from natural causes, according to records obtained by NBC4 and published on Monday, July 6.

The revelation came days after Elizabeth and her husband, Gary Siders Jr., were arrested alongside his parents, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders, following the rescue of 16 children from their Vinton County home, PBS reported on July 3.

Authorities described the scene as “deplorable” and “third-world,” with the children, ages 1 to 18, crammed into a 12-by-12 room filled with human waste for at least four years, according to a July 6 report by WOWK 13.

The children had never been enrolled in school — some could barely speak, and their oldest, 18, was reportedly unable to write her name, according to the outlet, which noted that several required hospitalization after the rescue, including two who were airlifted to trauma centers and one who had to be intubated.

A relative, Ronnie Fletcher, told WOWK 13 the extended family had no idea how many children were living inside. He said they believed the couple had around 10 kids.

“If we would have known that it was like that in that home, we would have done something about it, even if it was just to go there and take the kids ourselves or give them money,” Fletcher said.

Fletcher also disclosed that Elizabeth married Gary Jr. in 2008 when she was just 15 and he was 18.

All four defendants pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of child endangerment. NBC4 reports each faces up to 192 years in prison if convicted on all charges. The judge set bail at $300,000 per defendant.
