Nick Reiner Pleads Not Guilty to Murdering His Parents, Sports Shaved Head in Court Appearance

Accused double murderer Nick Reiner pleaded not guilty to killing his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, on Feb. 23, per The New York Times.

Two months earlier, on Dec. 14, their bodies were discovered brutally stabbed to death inside their $13.5 million Brentwood home.

The 32-year-old nepo baby, his head shaven and clad in a brown jumpsuit with his arms and legs in shackles, spoke only once during the court appearance — he replied “yes” when Judge Theresa McGonigle asked if he was okay with his next court date, April 29, according to New York Post.

Nick, the youngest of the Reiners’ three children, was charged in December with two counts of first-degree murder in the killing of his parents. He could be facing life in prison without a chance at parole or the death penalty if he’s convicted.

A sometime screenwriter, he had reportedly been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was placed into a yearlong mental health conservatorship in 2020. He was said to have been struggling with his mental health in the weeks before the killings after his medication was changed.

Nick is being represented by Kimberly Greene, a lawyer from the Los Angeles County public defender’s office. His first attorney, prominent criminal defense lawyer Alan Jackson, removed himself from the case in January.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman has warned the case will be difficult to prosecute. “These cases, involving family members, are some of the most challenging and most heart-wrenching cases that our office faces,” he said last year.
