Shortly before his untimely death, Nicholas Brendon seemed to stake Sarah Michelle Gellar in the heart for her alleged actions during their stint on TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Brendon, who is best known for playing nerdy sidekick Xander Harris through all seven seasons of the hit, took the apparent swipe during a 45-minute live Facebook chat with fans on March 14 — six days before the 54-year-old tragically died in his sleep.

Rocking in a chair and coughing aggressively, Brendon blathered, “I’ve had a fire all day, because it’s been cold … but it’s amazing what it’ll do to you, when you breathe smoke.”
When discussing the supernatural series, which aired from 1997 to 2003, he explained, “I believe that the way that the show ended shouldn’t have ended the way that it did.”

Per Page Six, Brendon fumed, “Sarah [who played the show’s namesake character Buffy Summers] … she worked really hard but she sort of f**ked the show, in a way. She told everyone she was leaving way too late into the series, so [creator] Joss [Whedon] was not prepared for that. You have an arc every season … it wasn’t fair to the crew, the cast or the show.”
The Criminal Minds alum had a congenital heart defect and suffered from the crippling nerve root condition cauda equina syndrome. A statement from his family on Instagram said he “passed in his sleep of natural causes.”
