Melania Trump’s Documentary Failing to Sell Tickets Early: ‘Theaters Are Practically Empty’

Unlike the record-breaking presales for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film in 2023, no one seems to be rushing to buy tickets for the first lady’s eponymous documentary, Rob Shuter reported in his Naughty But Nice Substack on Friday, January 16.
“In New York, only a handful of seats have been booked,” a source told Shuter of the film, which hits theaters on Friday, January 30, following a premiere at the Trump Kennedy Center the day before. “Palm Beach is no better. Even in Trump country, theaters are practically empty.”
“The studio was expecting a big turnout, but so far it’s not materializing,” the source added of interest in the Brett Ratner-directed documentary, which follows the former model, 55, during the 20 days leading up to President Donald Trump’s second inauguration in 2025.
“People are curious,” concluded another insider. “It’s a high-profile project, but hype doesn’t always translate into ticket sales.”
Swift’s concert film, which had sold out 4,200 screenings before it even opened, went on to make $261.7 million worldwide.
