Amid growing concerns about the state of the U.S. education system, education reformer Mackenzie Price offers innovative solutions to what she terms a ‘crisis’ in schooling, just as federal education policies face potential overhauls.

Price, whose “Future of Education” podcast ranks in the top 5 for the “Kids & Family” category on Apple Podcasts, is the founder of 2HourLearning, and has launched 10 new schools with 10 more coming this year.

Her approach is rooted in a philosophy of flexibility and personalization for students, alongside increased teacher pay to reduce professional burnout. Price suggests four specific reforms for U.S. education:

Reject a one-size-fits-all approach by supporting diverse educational models, including public, private, and charter, while cutting bureaucratic red tape to promote flexibility and creativity.

Embrace artificial intelligence for personalized learning, using AI to tailor education to each childs strengths and interests, making learning more engaging.

Reduce bureaucracy and lower administrative costs, redirecting those funds to increase teacher pay, tackling burnout and improving retention.

Partner with parents, involving them as active partners in education, empowering families to strengthen the foundation for student success.

Price says the 2025 Nations Report Card shows the need for change in U.S. K–12 schools, and disruption and innovation in education can improve the system for students, parents and teachers alike.
