Karoline Leavitt ‘Can’t Guarantee’ ICE Agents ‘Won’t Be Around a Polling Location’ During Elections

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents could possibly be at the polls during the midterm elections later this year.

During a press briefing held Thursday, February 5, President Donald Trump’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt took questions from reporters, including one asking if ICE agents would be present outside of polling locations during the midterm elections in November.

“Is that something that the president is considering?” the reporter asked.

“That’s not something I’ve ever heard the president consider, no,” Leavitt, 28, replied.

When the reporter followed up by asking if Leavitt could “guarantee” that ICE would not be outside of voting locations, Leavitt clarified: “I can’t guarantee that an ICE agent won’t be around a polling location in November.”

“That’s, frankly, a very silly, hypothetical question,” she added. “But what I can tell you is I haven’t heard the president discuss any formal plans to put ICE outside of polling locations. It’s a disingenuous question.”

Earlier this week, former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon suggested that ICE would be at voting locations this fall.

“You’re damn right we’re going to have ICE surround the polls come November,” Bannon, 72, said on his War Room podcast. “We’re not going to sit here and allow you to steal the country again.”

Regardless of whether or not ICE will be present, “Non-citizens, including permanent legal residents, cannot vote in federal, state, and most local elections,” according to Vote.gov.

The presence of ICE amid the 79-year-old president’s immigration crackdown has sparked protests around the United States following the fatal shootings of Renée Nicole Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of law enforcement.

As National Enquirer previously reported, ICE is allegedly not planning to conduct any operations at the upcoming Super Bowl LX, which will be held Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
