Kai Trump is opening up about her life in the spotlight — from dating as a teenager under Secret Service watch to how a recent surgery could change her golf game.
“To be honest with you, it’s really awkward when you’re sitting around and going on a date with a guy and they’re two tables behind you,” the 18-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump said on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast on Tuesday, January 6.

“It’s a little weird. I try my best not to let it bother me,” she added. “Especially the past year, since he’s become President. I’ve had to learn that, yes, they’re following me, but also to focus on pretending that they’re not there.”
Despite the discomfort, Kai said she’s learned how to tune it out and focus on the people she’s with. “Obviously they are there,” she explained. “But if you can try to not really focus on that and enjoy your time with your friends, your family or whatever it is, it makes it easier.”
The daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Haydon admitted the adjustment period wasn’t easy, noting that the “first few months” of being followed by a security detail “was tough.”

“But once I was like, ‘Their only job is to protect me. I’m going to focus on my stuff and have them do their job.’ It made it so much easier,” she said.
While her dating life has drawn attention, Kai has also made headlines for her athletic achievements. She is committed to playing golf at the University of Miami. She also made her LPGA debut n November 2025.

Just one day after her podcast appearance, Kai revealed she underwent surgery on her left wrist, a procedure she says will help her return to the sport pain-free.
“Today, I underwent left wrist surgery to address injuries to the stabilizing tissues of my ECU tendon and damage to my triangular fibrocartilage complex,” the athlete shared with her 2.6 million Instagram followers. “I am excited for the ability to play golf pain free!”
