Julia Roberts Accused of Having Secret ‘Dark Side’ Behind the Scenes: ‘She Scares People’ (Exclusive)

America’s Sweetheart seemingly isn’t all smiles when the cameras stop rolling!

Though Julia Roberts projects a happy-go-lucky image in public, a source alleges her far gloomier behind-the-scenes personality has Hollywood colleagues walking on eggshells.

“If you’ve worked with Julia for any amount of time, you’ve seen flashes of her dark side,” claims the source. “She scares people, even her costars who are themselves famous, and she seems to like it that way. There is no confusion about who is in charge on a movie that stars Julia Roberts.”

According to the source, the “intimidating” actress, 58, is in relentless pursuit of another career milestone following her 2001 Academy Awards win for Erin Brockovich.

“That was 25 years ago now,” the source says. “It’s annoying to Julia that she hasn’t hit a high like that since — and not for lack of trying.”

The last time the Pretty Woman icon was even nominated for an Oscar was in 2014.

While her latest flick, After the Hunt, landed Roberts a 2026 Golden Globes nom, she failed to get recognized by other major ceremonies like the Critics Choice Awards, BAFTAs and Actor Awards.

Cinematographer husband Danny Moder — whom she wed in 2002 after they met on the set of The Mexican — has noticed a shift in the leading lady’s disposition as the accolade drought drags on, dishes the source.

“He’s definitely seen how intense and serious Julia can get during a big production,” the source spills. “Being in the business himself, he knows all movie stars aren’t like this. She can be downright dour at times.”
