Journey’s Jonathan Cain is slamming Bruce Springsteen for bringing politics into his music.

The keyboardist and guitarist, 76, accused Springsteen, also 76, of turning concerts into political platforms while telling him to focus on entertaining fans.

During a May appearance on the Tom Barnard podcast, Cain called out stars like Springsteen and actor Robert De Niro for using their celebrity status to speak out on political issues.

“I used to be a Democrat back in the old days, but I just couldn’t go there anymore,” Cain said during the discussion, which recently resurfaced via Variety.

“Guys like Bruce Springsteen should shut up. You know, really, honestly, shut up, Bruce,” he continued. “Him and… who’s the other one? Robert De Niro. I mean, who cares, guys? Do your art. I try to keep politics out of my music.”

Cain, 76, is married to evangelist Paula White-Cain, who works as an adviser to President Donald Trump.

“He’s an annoying, bitter old man. I mean, stop it. Really,” Cain continued of Springsteen, taking a further swipe at the rock legend’s 1984 signature hit “Born in the U.S.A.” “You were born in the USA, weren’t you, dude? So act like it. But even that song, if you look at the lyrics, I mean, it’s a kind of a diss toward our country.”

Springsteen has long made politics part of his concerts and public appearances, frequently criticizing the Trump administration and conservative policies.

According to Variety, during a concert in New Jersey in January, Springsteen told the audience that “ICE should get the [expletive] out of Minneapolis” following the death of Renee Good.
