On Tuesday, December 16, the 71-year-old shock jock told listeners that they will be getting more of The Howard Stern Show.
“I am happy to announce that I have figured out a way to have it all,” he said. “The announcement is that we’re going to be partnering with SiriusXM and [will] continue to entertain for the next three years.”
He added, “I’m excited about it because I do still love radio.”

Stern also explained during Tuesday’s broadcast, per Page Six, that the news of his renewal wasn’t leaked ahead of the announcement because he just learned the deal went through himself.
“You know why there are no leaks? Because I didn’t know anything until the weekend — whether I was staying or going,” he said. “I’m old as f**k. I’m not supposed to be working.”
Because it’s been previously reported that the radio personality wanted more free time, rumors spread that the end was near for The Howard Stern Show. However, he told listeners that this new contract will give him more “flexibility.”
According to the Daily Mail, it was allegedly a “desperate hoax” in an attempt to increase ratings.
“They’re desperately trying to make this thing go viral to try to boost his numbers for his return on September 2,” a source told the publication over the summer. “His numbers are down so low that they’re desperately trying to make him relevant and get people to tune in to see what he’s going to say about getting ‘fired’ from Sirius.”
