George Clooney is sharing his unfiltered thoughts on President Donald Trump.

The 64-year-old Oscar winner — who has publicly criticized the 79-year-old president in the past — discussed his thoughts on politics at an event organized in part by the Clooney Foundation for Justice at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Rome, Italy.

According to a Wednesday, April 8, report by Italian news agency ANSA, the Ocean’s Eleven actor addressed the Apprentice alum’s recent Truth Social post regarding the war in Iran in which Trump claimed, “A whole civilization will die tonight.”

Though a two-week ceasefire deal was reportedly reached before Trump’s deadline, Clooney told nearly 3,000 students, “Some say Donald Trump is fine, but if someone says he wants to end civilization, that’s a crime.”

“You can still support the conservative point of view, but there has to be a line of decency, and we shouldn’t cross it,” the actor added.

Though Clooney previously penned an op-ed urging former president Joe Biden to step down from the 2024 presidential race, he said (per ANSA), “Do I feel responsible for what happened next? We had our backs against the wall. I said we should have had primaries, but they didn’t let us. It was a shame.”

“This is not a great moment in American history,” Clooney added.

The ER alum has a long history of feuding with the president.

In a December 2025 Truth Social post, Trump condemned Clooney, writing, “George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France which is, sadly, in the midst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration, much like we had under Sleepy Joe Biden.”

Referencing Clooney’s op-ed regarding Biden, Trump wrote, “Clooney got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies. He wasn’t a movie star at all, he was just an average guy who complained, constantly, about common sense in politics. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The United States and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran in late February. The White House previously called Operation Epic Fury “a precise, overwhelming military campaign to eliminate the imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime, destroy its ballistic missile arsenal, degrade its proxy terror networks, and cripple its naval forces.”
