Former ‘CBS Saturday Morning’ Hosts Praised at Media Event After Being Fired by Bari Weiss

Michelle Miller, Dana Jacobson and Brian Applegate may have been ousted from CBS Saturday Morning by CBS’s new Editor in Chief Bari Weiss, but they’re still getting praise within the industry.

Page Six reports that the trio was recently heaped with praise from fellow journalists and people in the media field at a National Urban League reception in Harlem. The reception was reportedly hosted by the League’s CEO, and Miller’s husband, Marc H. Morial.

A source who attended the event told the outlet that the new leadership at the network was not discussed at the event. However, the trio did talk about the circumstances surrounding their departure and how it “drew quiet concern within media circles.”

The celebration of the journalists and the executive producer came after they were among the first victims of Weiss’ takeover of the network. They were ultimately replaced by Adriana Diaz and Kelly O’Grady back in January following their November ouster.

Weiss continues to make controversial decisions at the network. The National Enquirer previously reported that she is reportedly courting “younger, hotter” men in key on-camera positions. There have also been reports that she is entertaining Matt Lauer’s alleged exploration of returning to TV at CBS.

Weiss was previously tapped to lead the network by known ally of President Donald Trump, David Ellison, which fueled speculation that her appointment was an effort to curry favor with the second Trump administration, according to The New Yorker. Her shakeups at the network, including the ousting of Miller, Jacobson and Applegate, did little to assuage pundits of those fears.
