Nikki Glaser finished her stint hosting the Golden Globe Awards with a tribute to murdered moviemaker Rob Reiner.

The comedian, 51, fronted the awards show for the second time in Los Angeles on Sunday January 11, and she saved the most meaningful moment until the end, closing out the show with a poignant reference to Rob.

Glaser took to the stage wearing a hat emblazoned with the title of Rob’s 1984 comedy Spinal Tap and quoted the film. “This one went to 11,” she said. “Thank you guys for an amazing night, and I hope we found the line between clever and stupid. A good Chalamet to you all.”

In a classic scene Spinal Tap, guitarist Nigel Tufnel played by Christopher Guest, famously remarks that most amps’ volume knobs go up to 10, but his goes to 11.

Rob and his wife Michele’s bodies were discovered in their Brentwood, California, home on Sunday, December 14. Their son Nick Reiner has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the death of his parents.

Nick has not entered a plea in the case yet. On Wednesday, January 7, his lawyer Alan Jackson announced that he would be withdrawing from the case. Nick’s arraignment has now been moved to February 23.

At the time, Jackson cemented his belief in his ex client’s innocence. “What we’ve learned and you can take this to the bank, is that pursuant to the laws of this state, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder,” he said. “Print that. We wish him the very very best moving forward.”

Glasser had previously revealed she planning to make a reference to Reiner during her turn at the Globes and insisted she wanted it to be special.

“I have something planned that I’m going to do in my own way to just acknowledge [Rob] and celebrate him in my own way.” she told USA Today on January 8. “I knew him, but not that well. I’m not going to linger on it too much because I think that’s what we’ve been doing for the past few weeks.”

“But obviously, I thought if something happened to me and Rob Reiner was hosting a show, given our relationship, how would I want him to handle it?” she added. “I think I landed on something that I feel he would do for me, too.”
