Erika Kirk Says She Now Sees Who Was ‘Riding’ Husband Charlie’s ‘Coattails’ After His Assassination
Erika Kirk continues to speak her truth.
The Turning Point USA CEO, 37, addressed the crowd at the organization’s Make Heaven Crowded tour in California on Thursday, January 21, and explained how she was feeling in the aftermath of husband Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
During her remarks, the mother of two told those in the audience that “you really see who your true friends are” amid times of tragedy.
Her husband’s sudden death gained national attention after he was killed in broad daylight at age 31 on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, as part of his American Comeback Tour.
“You see who is in your corner,” Erika continued of those who were and weren’t there for her in her time of need.
“You see who was riding my husband’s coattails, and who genuinely cared and who genuinely wanted to be there for us as a family,” she explained.
During the darkest days of her life, Erika said she was told, “If you are able to turn this pain — extreme pain — into a purpose that is far greater than yourself, you’ll be okay.” That, she added, “stuck with me.”
During her speech, Erika also said that she is “still heavily obsessed with my husband,” adding: “I always will be. I love him so much.”
She revealed that when she and Charlie were married in May 2021, they “wanted to be very intentional about how the Lord would use our marriage,” so they “wrote down goals for our marriage,” one of which was to “spread the gospel.”
As previously reported, Erika has now formally requested a speedy trial in the case against Tyler James Robinson, who is accused of killing her husband. The 22-year-old made his first in-person court appearance on December 11, but he has not yet entered a plea.
Erika — who shares two young children with Charlie — has spoken out numerous times following the death of the Stop, in the Name of God author.
She recently shared a photo of their daughter holding Charlie’s book, which was posthumously released in December. “Daddy’s final story book,” Erika wrote over the photo.
