Hours before the event — which took place on the White House lawn on Sunday, June 14 — the Turning Point USA CEO, 37, took to X to explain what the fight night meant to her, and the plans she and Charlie had to attend before he was assassinated.
“When Charlie and I had just started dating, we went to a UFC fight together, so when we found out about it as a possibility for 250th we were so stoked and made plans to be there,” she wrote. “What a memory that would’ve been to share with our grandkids one day. Good luck to the fighters tonight, and Happy Birthday to @POTUS and our great military!!”

Erika shared the story alongside a post from Turning Point USA’s X account announcing that it was sponsoring the White House UFC event. The post contained a video of Charlie speaking with Jesse Waters on Fox News in which he joked that he’d call in every favor he possibly could to get tickets to what was then just a proposed idea to hold a UFC fight at the White House.

Charlie — who was killed at age 31 during an event on a college campus last September — explained at the time that he didn’t just want tickets for himself, but for Erika as well.
On Sunday, June 14, the White House’s South Lawn played home to a massive UFC event that was meant to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s founding. The event also happened to coincide with the weekend of President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
