The former CNN reporter, 60, was a guest on the Wednesday, July 15, episode of the Can’t Be Censored podcast hosted by Karman Wong and Travis Dhanraj, and he was asked if he had “political ambition.”
“No, but people keep asking me if I’m running for president,” Lemon replied. “And I don’t know. I might. I’m serious. I don’t know. I might, because people keep asking me to do it, or if I’m going to do it.”
While the independent journalist has no previous political experience, he said he doesn’t see that as a problem.
“It seems in this day and age, you don’t have to have a ton of political experience because our current president had none,” Lemon continued.

He added that he felt like PresidentDonald Trump “could have done a better job” if he took the opportunity to “listen to people.”
“But he doesn’t. He thinks he knows everything,” Lemon explained. “I actually think I would be a really good president of the United States.”
When it comes to exactly what it would take for him to run for president, Lemon’s main requirement was that people needed to “want” him. He also said that he would like to run a campaign that didn’t require him “to beg for money.”
“I would like it to be a citizen-driven campaign for as much as it can be,” Lemon shared. “Maybe at some point I might have to take a donation. I would rather not do that, but I would rather the people of the United States say, ‘That’s the guy that we want. I’m gonna give him five dollars or $10 or something that doesn’t break the bank because I know that the economy is tough.'”
