A deaf woman miraculously survived after a plane crashed into her while she was walking her dog on a soccer field in Long Beach, Calif, according to The Independent.
Tiffany Harrison, who is in her 40s, couldn’t hear the small custom-made aircraft approaching, so she wasn’t able to dive out of the way.

Her longtime partner, Veronica Barrera, was waiting in a nearby parking lot when she saw the plane about to land where Tiffany was walking.
“My heart dropped,” Veronica said. “That plane hit her so fast.”
In a radio message, the pilot, a man in his 60s, said the plane’s engine had conked out and he was going to try to land in a field.

Paramedics arrived to treat Tiffany, while Long Beach Fire Department firefighters helped the pilot out of the plane, an experimental two-seater aircraft. Both were transported to the hospital.
Tiffany suffered a fractured spine, a broken pelvis and required surgery for a deep gash on her leg. Tiffany’s sister Brittany McFall said her sibling had to have two blood transfusions because of the cut. Her dog was not injured and the pilot, who was not identified, also survived.

“When we got the phone call that she got hit by an airplane, we couldn’t even believe it because it’s something that doesn’t happen,” Brittany said. “It’s almost like an unbelievable story.”
“This is very traumatic for her, and she’s probably going to have PTSD because a normal person wouldn’t just … walk in the park and have this freak accident.”
