Courtney Stodden has broken her silence about the police showing up at her and husband Jared Safier‘s home recently.

“I’m okay and taking things one day at a time,” the model, 31, told the Daily Mail in an interview published on Friday, July 24. “Everything is fine. It was just one difficult moment.”

The reality TV personality also noted that “The effects of childhood trauma can echo through adulthood,” referring to her age-gap marriage to Doug Hutchison. Stodden wed Hutchison in 2011 when she was 16, and he was 51. Stodden filed for divorce in 2018, and it was finalized in 2020.

The Daily Mail also reported that Stodden and Safier — who tied the knot in 2024 — have been going to couples therapy and are in a better place since the incident.

As the National Enquirer previously reported, a source told TMZ that on Thursday, July 9, a verbal argument between the couple led to a 911 call, and police showed up at the pair’s L.A. home around 1:45 AM for a welfare check.

The officers spoke with the couple and kept the peace between them, and no one was arrested, per the outlet.

Later that day, Stodden took to her Instagram Story sharing a post that read “Your husband should be your safe place, not somebody else you have to fight,” and another that stated, “Love was never meant to feel like a constant battle. Your person should be your peace, not your pain.”

The Celebrity Big Brother alum has been open about the ups and downs of marriage. In December, in honor of her first wedding anniversary, she shared a photo of her and Safier on Instagram and admitted in the caption that she “almost ran away” on their wedding night.

“On the night I got married, Jared and I were both emotional, overwhelmed, and far too drunk to be making decisions with clear hearts,” she explained. “A misunderstanding turned into a fight, outside voices added fuel, and everything spiraled faster than either of us meant it to.”

The caption now reads, “Year 1, down! 🥹🦋💍.”
