Christie Brinkley, 71, Stuns in Bikini Selfie
Christie Brinkley just reminded the internet that age really is just a number.
The 71-year-old supermodel had fans doing a collective double take on Sunday, April 6, after posting two selfies from a boat ride on Instagram.
“Feeling Optimistic and Hope [you] are too!” Brinkley wrote alongside the snaps. “Wishing everyone bright sun shiny days ahead!”
In the first picture, the former Sports Illustrated Swim cover girl is sitting with her knees up, rocking a red bikini, a blue baseball cap, and a silver watch, smiling with one hand on her head. In the second shot, she switches to a straw sunhat and leans back, soaking up the sun.
Comments started pouring in almost immediately.
“You’re lookin’ hot at 71. Love you to the moon 🔥🌕,” one person wrote.
“Can’t believe your age… It is incredible. It is ridiculous. It is absolutely awesome 🙏🌹👌💪,” another said.
“👏 You look so happy ! I love it!” chimed in a third.
“Age has so much to do with the mind. You have beauty throughout!” someone else pointed out.
“Stunning! I think there’s an error on your birth certificate,” joked another.
The post also gave a nod to Brinkley’s upcoming memoir Uptown Girl, which hits shelves on Tuesday, April 29.
“I wrote ‘Uptown Girl’ to inspire readers to create the life they want, which is what I’ve always tried to do, not through fortune or fame, but by saying yes to adventure and trying to find the magic in every moment, no matter how big or how small,” the New York Times best-selling author said in a statement released through publisher Harper Influence in February.
The book will cover Brinkley’s modeling career, personal life, and “four tumultuous marriages” — including her relationship with ex-husband Billy Joel.
The former couple started dating in 1983, got married in 1985, and welcomed daughter Alexa, now 39, later that year. After nearly a decade of marriage, they divorced in 1994.
Shortly after, Brinkley tied the knot with real estate developer Richard Taubman. The pair welcomed son Jack in 1995 but split not long after his birth.
In 1996, Brinkley walked down the aisle for a third time, marrying architect Peter Cook. He adopted Jack before the couple welcomed daughter Sailor in 1998. Brinkley and Cook, now 57, divorced in 2008 after he admitted to cheating on the mom of three with an 18-year-old.
