The pop star, 44 — who was in a controversial conservatorship from 2008 to 2021 — revealed on Instagram on Thursday, January 8, that she will never perform in the United States again.
Alongside a throwback from her performance of “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” at the 2002 American Music Awards in Los Angeles, she explained why she often posts videos of herself online dancing as she continues to grapple with her tumultuous past.

“Sending this piano to my son this year!!!” she began in the caption, referencing the all-white musical instrument in the photo.
“Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about,” she admitted. “Yup and it’s embarrassing sometimes… but I walked through the fire to save my life.”
She then revealed she will “never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons,” but went on to tease a potential performance with her son.
Spears shares sons Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, with ex-husband Kevin Federline — however, she did not reveal which son she plans to give the piano to nor which she hoped to perform with.

“I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son… in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,” she wrote. “He’s a huge star and I’m so humbled to be in his presence!!! God speed, little man!!!”
The “Circus” singer previously shared a post to Instagram last year in which she raved about Jayden’s musical talents. While the post appears to have been taken down, E! News reported that she captured her son freestyle-rapping in her California home.
“He’s a genius and I’m in awe of him,” Britney captioned the March 10, 2025, video. “I can’t believe he’s mine !!! I was honestly scared that’s not normal !!!”

“My son just played, oh my god,” she reportedly said in the clip “I felt it in my bones, and my heart, and my lungs and my ass, and my throat and — I’m scared!!!”
She also shared a second video of Jayden playing the piano, captioning the post, “WOW WOW WOW!!!”
