Bill Maher made an intimate confession on his Club Random podcast on Monday, November 10.
Asked by guest Cheryl Hines about a naughty rumor she’d heard about him, the former Politically Incorrect host recalled that Entertainment Weekly once printed “that I masturbated before the show in the dressing room.”
“Why did they say that? Because I did. Not often,” the comedian, 69, admitted.
“Here’s the thing. This is the ’90s. I mean, we taped every day, or three days a week. You know, it was an everyday show,” he explained.
“I was just like a wild person then, and I would be out at night,” the Religulous writer continued. “Did I get enough sleep? No, because I was out late drinking and clubbing.”
“I could always get a nap if I jed off first,” Maher continued of preparing for the show, which ran from 1993 to 2002. “And I think one time I forgot to remove the Jergens [lotion] from the toilet area. It is damning evidence.”
He now hosts HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher — where he hopefully keeps his dressing room door locked!
