A cramped apartment mailroom dispute over a delivery sign in October 2025 has become a federal attempted murder case, after an Amazon delivery driver allegedly shot a USPS letter carrier in the face and left him blind in one eye.
KOMO News reported on Wednesday, July 8, that Blake Kuhlman, 27, was arrested at the scene inside the West Mall Place Apartments in Everett, Washington.
Investigators said the confrontation began October 3, 2025, when the postal worker, who had posted a sign asking others to use a different door while he made deliveries, told Kuhlman to read it. Prosecutors allege Kuhlman shoved him first. The carrier shoved back, and the argument turned violent, as per the outlet.
According to Law&Crime, “He [expletive] shot me in the face,” the USPS worker told investigators. “After he did that, he stood over the top of me for, like, five seconds and just stared at me.”

The carrier told police he had worked the same route for six years without trouble from other Amazon drivers. He lost his eye in the shooting, according to prosecutors.
Officers with the Everett Police Department recovered a loaded .22 Magnum revolver, body armor, a 9 mm Glock 19 pistol, three 27-round magazines and a fixed-blade knife at the scene.
The criminal complaint states Kuhlman “admitted to shooting the victim in the face and claimed he felt threatened and acted in self-defense, asserting that the victim pushed him first,” per Law & Crime.

Prosecutors also allege Kuhlman told investigators the postal worker was connected to the “mafia” and claimed the FBI was targeting him, as per KOMO.
Kuhlman faces charges of attempted murder of a federal employee, assault of a federal employee and using a firearm during a crime of violence.
He has not entered a plea, and the charges remain allegations at this stage. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 21.
