A Florida man is facing a domestic violence charge after the alleged victim whispered “help me” to an Amazon delivery driver.

According to an arrest affidavit filed by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene of a “suspicious incident” on March 28 after an Amazon delivery driver called 911 to report a woman had whispered “help me” while making a delivery.

When deputies arrived at the residence, Frank Mandolini, 43, was seated on the porch alongside a woman who “appeared in distress and had obvious red marks on her neck,” the affidavit states.

After separating the woman from Mandolini, she told deputies she was lying in bed when she accused Mandolini of using his phone and tablet to talk to other women or watch pornography. The woman said Mandolini became angry and grabbed her by the neck, dragging her to the floor and squeezing her neck. The woman said she began to lose consciousness and nearly blacked out.

Deputies reported observing red marks on the woman’s neck “consistent with being choked,” and said the woman reported pain in her neck and a “weird” feeling when swallowing.

Indian River County Fire Rescue responded to the scene to assist the woman.

Mandolini was placed under arrest on a charge of felony battery by strangulation. According to the affidavit, while en route to jail, after being read his Miranda rights, Mandolini told the arresting deputy that he did choke the woman, but did not cause her to lose breath.

“Frank repeated several times throughout the drive to the jail that he coked [the victim],” the affidavit states.
