A California woman arrested for allegedly shoplifting from a Walmart store was identified as the suspect captured on surveillance video stealing from a high school classroom, police said.
The Irvine Police Department said officers were called Saturday morning to investigate a burglary that took place at Woodbridge High School overnight. Surveillance videos showed a woman stealing “several items” from a classroom before fleeing the scene.
Just hours later, a Walmart loss prevention officer contacted police to report a woman had stolen items. Officers located and detained the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Tanya Elaine Marsh, nearby.
While Marsh was being detained, a police drone “flew overhead,” and a Real Time Crime Center analyst monitoring the drone footage recognized Marsh from the Woodbridge High School surveillance video, police said.
Marsh was booked into the Orange County Jail for burglary.
