As newly released JFK files make headlines, an unexpected perspective has emerged from behind prison walls.

In his upcoming book, “Six Dimes and a Nickel: Life Lessons to Empower Change,” bestselling author Damon West shares explosive claims made by his former cellmate — an figure in Dallass organized crime scene during the early 1960s.

West, a former college football quarterback turned convicted felon turned motivational speaker, recounts the shocking assertions made by “JT,” a longtime inmate with deep mob ties who claimed insider knowledge of the events surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Among JTs most startling claims: The JFK assassination was a mob hit ordered by Chicago crime bosses.

According to JT, Dallas police officer J.D. Tippit — who was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald shortly after the assassination — was sent to eliminate Oswald to “tie up the loose end.”

JT also offers a previously untold story about Jack Rubys killing of Oswald — that it was tied to the death of a Carousel Club dancer who allegedly “hung herself with her stretch pants” in Dallas City Jail the day before.

Charles Harrelson, the father of actor Woody Harrelson, was allegedly one of multiple shooters involved in the attack on JFK, according to JT, who claimed to be acquainted with him.

West says that JT, described as one of the most respected inmates in the Texas prison system, only permitted these accounts to be shared after his death in 2023.

While these revelations add another layer to the long-debated conspiracy theories surrounding Kennedys assassination, they are just one part of Wests personal journey.

Once a rising star quarterback, Wests life spiraled after an injury led him into methamphetamine addiction and organized crime, ultimately resulting in a 65-year prison sentence. While incarcerated, he transformed his life through faith, personal accountability, and what he calls the “coffee bean mindset” — the idea of changing ones environment rather than being shaped by it.

After serving just seven years, he was granted parole in 2015 — an exceptionally rare outcome for someone with his charges. Now, West is a sought-after motivational speaker, former adjunct professor, and three-time Wall Street Journal bestselling author.

As the U.S. revisits declassified documents on JFKs assassination, “Six Dimes and a Nickel” raises intriguing questions: Will any of JTs claims be supported by the newly released files? What role did organized crime play in the events of November 22, 1963? How many more undisclosed secrets remain about JFKs death?

Wests book offers more than just historical intrigue — it serves as a testament to redemption and resilience, presenting life lessons alongside one of Americas most enduring mysteries.

“Six Dimes and a Nickel: Life Lessons to Empower Change” will be available nationwide in hardcover on July 29, 2025.
