Tyra Banks Flees the States As Career Crumbles: ‘It’s Been Crickets’
Fashion icon Tyra Banks, 51, is headed back down under now that her hoped-for Hollywood renaissance has gone bottoms up, sources say.
“She showed up ready to slay, but instead of a red-carpet rollout, she got ghosted,” a source says of how the Top Model icon’s U.S. career reboot quietly flatlined.
After a brief stint cohosting the fourth hour of Today, Tyra has zero new projects in hand and is instead packing her bags and returning to Australia, her new home base since 2023, sources say.
“She thought the offers would pour in,” reveals a close friend. “Instead, it’s been crickets.”
Industry insiders blame a series of lukewarm gigs — from her Dancing With the Stars tenure to a daytime talk show that never found its groove — for cooling the once- blazing Tyra fire.
“She’s still iconic, no question,” says the source. “But this town has the memory of a goldfish. If you’re not hot right now, you’re ice cold.”
While Tyra hoped her Today appearance would be the soft launch of a bold return, sources say no major network has offered her a seat — permanent or otherwise.
But another insider insists: “She’s not giving up!”
