A train hauling cornstarch derailed in Indianapolis Sunday evening, with multiple cars falling off an overpass and spilling white powder on the road below.

The CSX train derailed at Southeastern Avenue and Earhart Street at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Six cars fell over the overpass, four of which were carrying cornstarch and two of which were empty, officials said.

The Indianapolis Fire Department said reports of the bridge collapsing in the derailment were “unfounded.” Firefighters responded to an initial report of a train fire, but changed to a “chemical spill” response after arrival, but said there were no actual hazardous materials at the scene.

No injuries were reported, but the fire department said it was unclear whether there were any vehicles on the road when the train cars fell off the overpass.

Photos and video shared by the fire department show multiple train cars in the road surrounded by white powder.

The fire department said CSX is investigating the cause of the derailment.
