Is your neighbor a terrorist? Leaders from police, citizens and victims advice groups have given National ENQUIRER readers these tips — saying to keep close tabs on anyone who…

  • Uses language that threatens violence, or incites others to violence.
  • Possesses technical literature – such as flight manuals – printed in another language.
  • Is a foreign student, tourist or businessman or woman who remains in the US after his or her visa has expired.
  • Is visited at home or work by a steady stream of unfamiliar cars or people.
  • Possesses a large number of weapons and/or material you suspect could be used for bomb making — for example, Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh bought a large amount of fertilizer and oil to create the bomb that killed 168 people.
  • Wears bulky clothing, even in warm weather conditions, possibly to hide bombs or weapons.
  • Has no regular work schedule but always seems to have a lot of money.

Security experts insist ethnicity or the way people dress should not be a reason to take action.

“Terrorists come from anywhere and can be born in the US. It’s not about the way people look but how they behave,” said a senior police advisor.

“People should rely on their instincts and if they sense that something is suspicious then it’s their duty to go to the authorities. Don’t feel like you’re being a crank or a busybody – you could be saving lives.

“Ordinary people are the first line of defense in the war against terrorism!”
