Police in North Carolina say they intercepted a drone attempting to deliver contraband to Anson Correctional Facility during a joint operation on Friday.

The Polkton Police Department said officers conducted an operation Friday alongside the Anson County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction at Anson Correctional Facility in Polkton. During the operation, a drone tried to deliver contraband to the facility.

Law enforcement stopped the drone from reaching the facility. Three suspects were arrested on site, and additional items were seized from them. Roland J. Snoke, David A. Johnson and Trudy M. Gibbs, all from Cumberland County, were each arrested and charged with providing contraband to inmate and received secured bonds of $100,000.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected, including civilians, 10 inmates at Anson Correctional Facility and inmates at other facilities throughout North Carolina.
