Police In Ontario Search For Arson Suspects Who Set Fire To 13 Vehicles

Police in Ontario, Canada, are seeking the public’s help identifying multiple suspects captured on surveillance video setting fire to more than a dozen parked cars.

York Regional Police said officers responded to an outdoor vehicle storage lot in the area of Heritage Road and McCowan Road in Markham shortly before noon Sunday for a report of an overnight fire. Police said the fire occurred at around 3 a.m. and “extinguished on its own.”

Surveillance video shows two people wearing dark clothing exiting a dark sedan, driven by a third suspect. The first two suspects can be seen pouring what appears to be accelerant over several parked vehicles and igniting them. The suspects then flee in the sedan.

There was snow on the ground, and a layer of frost on many of the vehicles, so it appears one of the fires may have fizzled pretty quickly, while another roared to life and later spread to other vehicles.

In total, police said 13 vehicles were heavily damaged. There were no reported injuries.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
