California fire officials on Wednesday announced the seizure of more than 100,000 pounds of illegal fireworks from a licensed fireworks importer/exporter that was allegedly not following regulations.

The Cal Fire Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) responded to a claim that a licensed fireworks importer/exporter in Commerce, in Los Angeles County, was not following regulations required by their licensure.

Officials did not name the business, or specify which regulations were not followed, but the investigation resulted in the seizure of more than 100,000 pounds of illegal fireworks.

Photos shared by Cal Fire – OSFM show scores of boxes on pallets, with labels including “Dragon’s Eyeball,” “Sabotage,” and “Jungle Juice.”

“As we approach the 4th of July and a typical increase in usage of illegal fireworks, this seizure should be a reminder of our zero tolerance to illegal fireworks in California,” California State Fire Marshal Daniel Berlant said in a statement.

Cal Fire said that since January of this year, the state has seen more than $4 million in property losses from fires caused by fireworks.

Officials are reminding the public that it is illegal to sell, transport, or use in California fireworks that do not carry the “Safe and Sane” seal. Violations are punishable by fines of up to $50,000, and up to one year in jail.
