A Missouri man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his pregnant wife and their unborn child last month, police said.
The Lebanon Police Department said Sidney Fredrick Wilson V was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He was being held at Laclede County Jail without bond.
The investigation began when officers responded to a report of a shooting shortly before midnight on June 5 and arrived at a residence on the 700 block of North Adams Avenue to find 21-year-old Reagan Wilson with gunshot wounds.
Reagan Wilson was pregnant and “near term” at the time of the shooting, and although she was pronounced dead shortly after the incident, her baby boy was delivered and initially survived. Despite medical care, the baby later died on June 13.
“Our entire team mourns the loss of this young mother and child. Our team and our partners are disgusted by this loss of life and will relentlessly pursue justice for Reagan and her child,” said Police Chief Jerry Harrison. “We are grateful to the Laclede County Sheriffs Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the ATF for their assistance.”
Police did not specify in their statement how Sidney Wilson and Reagan Wilson are related. According to local news reports, they were married but separated at the time of the shooting.
Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Lebanon Police Department at (417) 532-3131 or submit tips anonymously through the online tip system at www.lebanonmissouri.org.
