A man reported missing after his dog returned home without him in stormy conditions was found wet but safe by a Maine Game Warden and her K9 partner Lucy.
The Maine Department of Fisheries and Wildlife said Game Wardens were alerted Sunday night that a 46-year-old Montville man was missing. He left his residence on foot with his two dogs earlier that evening, but one dog later returned home without him.
Friends and neighbors began searching the area “with no luck,” before Maine State Police joined to assist. Game Warden K9 teams arrived on scene just as heavy rain and winds were picking up, and began searching the woods near the property.
At around 2:10 a.m., Game Warden Dory Kulis and K9 Lucy found the man, still accompanied by his other dog, in a wooded area about three-quarters of a mile from the residence. The man was “soaked from the driving rain,” but was otherwise unharmed and did not require medical treatment.
