On the set of his new, still-untitled movie Jack Nicholson flouted antismoking laws by having a fireman with an extinguisher standing by just a few feet away from his chair that’s equipped with a built-in ashtray! The star’s safety measures failed to impress a studio security guard who approached him and warned he was not allowed to smoke. “Oh yeah, boy . . . what are you going to do about it?” drawled Jack. Said the guard, “I’m going to write you a ticket for $250.” Jack flashed his trademark evil grin and said calmly, “Fine, just write a ticket. I make more than $250 every five seconds on this set.”
