Patiently trudging through a quiet LA neighborhood, "Date Night" star STEVE CARRELL knocked on two dozen doors and – after homeowners recovered from the shock of finding a Hollywood star on their doorstep – told them:
(1) He’s got a city permit to do night filming on their street for his new, still-untitled movie comedy;
(2) he’d like to apologize in advance for the commotion of giant trucks, huge floodlights and dozens of cables on sidewalks, and
(3) you’re all invited to snag snacks and beverages at our round-the-clock craft services table.
Said a source: "People were impressed that Steve, who’s both star and producer, cared enough to consult them – but they got an even bigger surprise the next day. A florist truck delivered huge flower arrangements to every home as a token of his appreciation.
"Now it’s like a big block party every night, with neighbors and their kids watching the movie action and snacking on craft table goodies."
