A man was rescued Wednesday morning after a 40-foot pleasure boat caught fire off the coast of Washington’s Vashon Island, which sits just southwest of Seattle and north of Tacoma.

The U.S. Coast Guard said crews from Marine Safety and Security Team (MSST) Seattle rescued a man from a burning boat in the Colvos Passage offshore Vashon Island on Wednesday.

Photos and video shared by the Coast Guard show a rescue boat pulling up alongside the burning vessel as thick, white smoke billows from the boat.

The Tacoma Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.

The Coast Guard said Tacoma Fire, West Pierce Fire and Rescue, and Gig Harbor Fire remained on the scene to tow the disabled boat back to Point Defiance Marina.
