The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying a hit-and-run driver who struck and severely injured a wheelchair user in his 60s.

The LAPD on Tuesday released surveillance video of the collision, which took place at around 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 11. A small, dark-colored SUV was traveling westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when it struck a man in a wheelchair who was crossing the street at Dalton Avenue.

In the video, it appears the pedestrian was not crossing at a marked crosswalk.

The SUV driver fled southbound on Harvard Boulevard from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, instead of remaining at the scene and rendering aid as required by law, police said.

Police said the wheelchair user, a man in his 60s, was “severely injured.”

The City of Los Angeles has a a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund, and a reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to the suspect’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or civil resolution.

The LAPD’s South Traffic Division is asking anyone with information to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
