Police in Massachusetts are seeking the public’s help after hundreds of nails were found embedded in roadways and driveways.

The Falmouth Police Department said an officer was patrolling John Parker Road in Falmouth, a coastal Cape Cod town, at around 2 a.m. on Friday, April 18, when he discovered nails lining the road. Officer on foot searched the area and found nails embedded in the roads on Clark Street, Old Barnstable Road, and Prince Henry Drive.

“Some nails were positioned under vehicle tires in driveways,” police said. With assistance from Department of Public Works personnel, officers collected a total of 478 nails.

Photos shared by the police department show nails sticking up out of what appear to be filled cracks in the asphalt. Another photo shows nails positioned right under the tire of a parked vehicle.

Police are asking anyone with surveillance footage of the area or information about the incident to contact Officer Chapman or submit an anonymous tip.
