Huffy Recalls Children’s Ride-On dump Trucks Due To Fire And Burn Hazards

Huffy is recalling more than 23,000 childrens Ride-On Tonka Dump Trucks because the controller can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall involves around 23,260 Huffy 12-volt childrens ride-on Tonka Dump Trucks, with model numbers 17362 and 17323. The yellow and black ride-on trucks measure 45 inches long, 32 inches wide and 24 inches tall, and have working LED headlights and a powered dump bed.

The recalled trucks have date codes from 15623 to 18724 printed on a label under the body of the truck. The first three numbers correspond to the day of the year, and the last two correspond to the year, with 15623 representing June 5, 2023, and 18724 representing July 5, 2024.

Huffy has received three reports of the controller overheating, and one report of a fire that consumed the truck. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled childrens dump trucks and contact Huffy for a free replacement controller. Huffy is contacting all known purchasers directly.

The recalled trucks were sold at Target and Sams Club stores nationwide and online at www.target.com and www.samsclub.com from June 2023 through March 2025 for about $300.
