The Los Angeles Police Department is searching for a hit-and-run suspect who was captured on video stopping to check on the victim he struck before getting back into his truck and fleeing the scene in front of several witnesses.
The collision took place on Reseda Boulevard and Clark Street at around 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday. A black Ford F-150 truck was traveling southbound Reseda Boulevard when it turned left onto Clark Street and struck a pedestrian in the marked crosswalk.
Surveillance video released by the LAPD shows the driver of the F-150 pulling over as the victim lies motionless in the street. The driver, a man wearing a baseball hat, blue jacket, and dark colored pants, approaches the victim along with several other stopped motorists and bystanders. He appears to be using his phone, as if to call 911, then suddenly returns to his truck and flees the scene.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim, a man in his 60s, to a local hospital in critical condition.
As part of the city’s Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund, a reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise, police said.
Anyone with information about the collision or the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact LAPD Valley Traffic Division Detective Otrosina at (818) 644-8036 or Officer Reyes at (818) 644-8114, or to submit an anonymous tip.
